ETCbrunel is a highly regarded consultancy and research Centre for engineering, forensic and environmental investigations, including expert witness statements for legal purposes. UKAS accreditation has been obtained for many of the services offered.

Our services include asbestos fibre analysis, surface examination and heavy metal analysis.  For more details of these and other projects please see our “Analytical Services” page.  Investigation techniques include Scanning Electron Microscopy, X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy, a full list can be found under “Characterization Facilities”.  We also run advanced training courses in analytical techniques, which are endorsed by the Institute of Physics for CPD.  Research project announcements, presentations and information on recent developments are found on our “News” page, and more information on our staff and their individual research interests can be found via the “People” page.

Our clients include local, national and international companies, as well as university research groups.  Recent publications in journals including Diamond & Related Materials, Wear, and Science & Justice and books such as Design against fracture and failure demonstrate our wide-ranging work. The Centre recently celebrated its 30th Anniversary with a conference showcasing the impact of university work for industry and society.
